Winning and Track Records for the Team

2016 has been successful for the Hanna Motorsports Jets team as the season approaches the fall.

The season’s biggest event for the team is the John Force Nite Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park in early August.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans raining the event out for only the 2nd time in 39 years.  Sarah Edwards was anticipating her 3rd and final meeting with Scotty “Heat” Holdridge and his 50Cal. Machine.  The two had split previous meetings this season and this was looking to be an epic battle.  It will have to wait until next season at the Cavalcade in May to start their next chapter.  And even gearing up for the event, the previous week Sarah raced Ernie Bogue at Lebanon Valley and New Endgland Dragway winning 6 straight runs against him on holeshots!  She was more than ready as she has learned so much over this first season with her poise shining through.  Sarah did win the Jet Warz event August 20 at MDIR which showcased 6 jet dragsters again beating Ernie Bogue in the final.  There was no need for a better reaction time in this case, just a solid light which she had as the car did the rest running a strong 5.29@298.5 in the final.

The funny cars are running strong as well.  At the same Jet Warz event in MDIR, Rich bested Ken in the 3rd and final deciding round in the tied up match race as they both posted side-by-side 5.79s.  Other than that, it has been Ken’s month as he has ousted Rich by narrow margins at most of the other events.  Ken recently set the Grand Bend track record Labor Day weekend with a stout 5.69@281.25mph. The car’s performance has certainly been impressive as of late.  Congrats to Ken on the recent track record!

There are several events to go down the stretch here for the team.  The fall weather is always an exciting time as the temperatures drop and the speeds get higher.  We’ll see what kind of numbers the cars can produce as they take advantage of these exciting conditions!
